What’s up sunshine?

“The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you;   The Lord  lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-25

Boy, has it been hot around here! And dry… we are definitely in need of some rain! Well, we got some yesterday! After an extremely wet winter, we have been having an especially dry summer. We have even had some concerns around here about the grass beginning to die, which is not good when that is the primary source of food for all of these cattle! But this afternoon, we got some rain. It rained very heavily in some communities around us, but we got a good, soaking rain. As the rain was ending, I took a moment away from supper preparations and walked out onto the porch. I noticed that the sun was breaking through and although the sun was shining brightly, it was still raining. It got me to thinking….

Have you ever been there? You might be there now. I sure have been there (a few times)! Living in the dry seasons isn’t fun! You may feel like God is a million miles away. Maybe life is a bit of a struggle and nothing is coming easy. Maybe it just seems like the rain will never fall again and you might just dry up and die, like my grass! But let me tell you friend, the rain is coming! He is so faithful and He won’t leave us in that season for too long. And when the rain comes, He makes sure we know He is the one who sent it. When He shines His face on you, you can’t help but think of His promises and His Word. Isn’t that just like God? You see while I was standing on the back porch looking at the sunshine that was coming, something caught my attention in the front of the house. As I walked around to the front porch, I couldn’t help but laugh! There was the biggest full rainbow (really, a double rainbow!) completely encompassing the east part of the farm. You see, we sometimes just need the reminder of His promises. He never said it would be easy and he never said we wouldn’t go through dry places. Hey! Even Jesus spent some time in the desert. But on the other side of the dry season is the rain that renews and replenishes and the promises that your dry spirit is longing for. Maybe the promise is still a long ways off, but seeing that reminder sure does make it easier to wait! Praying you get some rain friends, and a rainbow!

I set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth. Genesis 9

Hold On!

You see that? You see that little lizard? Look closer. Yep, that’s a little green lizard riding on my windshield wiper at 55 mph…. okay, so maybe a little faster! But I did slow down after I saw him! That little guy hitched a ride, unintentionally, and found himself off the farm on the way to town! I watched him all the way to Mobile and he hung on! When I stopped at red lights, or at stop signs, he never relaxed. He never tried to make a run for it. He held on. As I drove, I encouraged the little guy to hold on. I drove a little slower. An when I wanted to wash the windshield, I fought the urge to turn on the wipers! When I got to my destination and turned the car off, he waited a few moments before he finally decided to let go and make a run for it.

Someone today needs to hear this… hold on! Be like that little lizard. Hold on with all your might! Yes, it’s hard. Yes, it’s windy and scary. But if you let go now, it just might be over! Sometimes it isn’t our job to figure out where we are going or how in the world we are going to hold on tight enough until we get to wherever it is. It isn’t ours to question the why or how or even the when. It’s our job to hold on! In the end, we will find that the one who is in control, has His eyes on us. He sees us where we are and He’s in control. He’s driving the car and He’s monitoring the speed. He won’t let the wipers fling us away. He is faithful to uphold us, when we do our part and hold on to Him. And when we arrive at the destination, He is able to sit back and watch us walk and thrive on the path that He chose for us and live in the place that He destined us to be in. You see, that lizard didn’t plan his journey. When he got on that car for a rest, he had no idea where he would end up. But the driver knew where the road would take them. Hold on. God knows where the road is taking you. You only have to believe in Him and believe that He is faithful to get you where you are going. Hold on!

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Psalms 91:14-16 Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

Blog? You are going to do what?

“Blog? You are going to do what? ” Those were the words of my darling and supportive husband when I told him I wanted to start writing a blog. Fast forward through a lengthy conversation on what a blog is – if you know him, you understand this was quite a task- what the content would be, and to end it I simply said, “Just pray about it!” Yep, I pulled the card! I expected a few days would pass and that I would have to approach the subject again, but within minutes he said he had an answer! I was blown away! “Well, what you say?” He said it was a no-brainer and of course I should do the blog thing! (I love him by the way!!)

Well, that was easy, but now what? I have to have something to write about and I need an audience or all of this is a waste of time and effort. I have always loved to write, but what is interesting enough to write about that people want to take the time to read and maybe take something away from it? Have you ever met us? HA! Interesting is something we do easily. Okay, okay, maybe crazy is a better description, but I would not describe us as boring! Romans 14:19 says, “So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.” My intention is to include you in our “entertaining” life all while adding a sprinkling of what makes life so much better, God’s Word and how we try to apply it to everything we do. So, I have set out on this journey to write something that others will want to read and in the end I hope that you will not only enjoy reading it, but that you just might be better in some way by having joined us as we live The Circle E Life!
