We can’t do anything on the farm in all the rain and mud! So we are taking the time to Spotlight our friends and their ministry (with their permission, of course). This is definitely a sobering topic, but we urge you to consider how you can help. Please take the time to read, share and SUPPORT!
Who doesn’t love to receive a gift? Who are we kidding? Everyone loves to receive a gift! But do you know that giving the gift is the best part? Have you ever given a gift that you knew the receiver was just going to love and you waited and watched with excitement for them to open and see? Wasn’t that the best?
Now think about it…..It’s that gift, that in order to give it, it will cost you dearly. It didn’t cost you time or money, it cost you your life.
That gift is the gift of organ donation. Truly the hardest and most precious gift that can be given.
Recently, our dear friends lost their son. Through their pain and this time of tragedy, they chose to give that same gift. They chose to give life to others, in the closest action that can compare to what God has done for us on this earth; they chose organ donation.
Their gift gave two other children the gift of life. These parents continue to promote organ donation as well as support other parents and families in similar circumstances.
Their “giving the gift” has not stopped with organ donation. Blankets for Brantley is a group that was started in order to give blankets to families with children in the hospital under similar circumstances. These blankets make it possible for the parent/parents to snuggle with their child in the bed, making memories that will be needed and cherished, while also giving a tangible item for the parent to connect with when loss occurs. This ministry has grown, and what started as an outlet to one local hospital, has branched into so much more. They are kicking off their Valentine’s/National Organ Donation Day campaign now!
Currently, Blankets for Brantley is reaching out to families at several hospitals, as well as many individuals in their area. They are now delivering not only blankets, but books, toiletries, pajamas, and journals to families experiencing a medical crisis with their children. These items bring some comfort to families going through the unimaginable.
When we felt God leading us to start this journey of writing our experiences and thoughts and putting them out there for the world to share, one thing was clear. We were to also share the ministries that we love and support for the world to share as well.
Will you consider praying for and supporting Blankets for Brantley? If you are local to our area, you can reach out on their Facebook page (follow link), for drop off locations. They are accepting these books (found here at Amazon), blankets, etc, as well as the baskets to place the items in for delivery. If you aren’t local and would like to support, please comment, email, or feel free to ship items to 8321 Coleman Homestead Rd Moss Point, MS 39562. At this time, Blankets for Brantley is in need of all of these items due to a large delivery recently. Their reserves are getting low.
We have readers all over the world. So far we have been read in 16+ countries. Nevertheless, there is no distance too far that should keep us from supporting one another in our journeys through life.
Maybe you have never experienced this type of of loss, and I pray that you don’t. No one that hasn’t experienced this can imagine. But maybe you are struggling with something today. The One that knows the cost of this gift and the feelings that come with it, and what you are struggling with today better than anyone else, is God himself. He gave his Son for us that we might have life eternal. That gift cost Jesus his life, and God his only son. But oh what a gift! And it was done for you and I, no matter where we are and what we have done. If you haven’t received this FREE gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, you can!
