Look at that lovely little girl! She’s so friendly and inquisitive! But if you look closely, you will see two big, nasty horse flies that were driving her crazy! I should have videoed her. She wanted to know what I was doing and wanted to get as close to me as she could. But she was so distracted by the two horse flies that wanted to land on her face. The flies didn’t try to land on her back or sides. She would shake her head and chase them off and they would fly and land right back on her nose. She was definitely needing a little fly protection!
Last weekend we worked cattle and all of the cows got a good dose of worm and lice protection. Over the winter, a few of them looked like they were having some issues, so everyone got a good dose of protection and medication. But unfortunately, the horse flies just won’t be stopped around here. It’s that time of year and so, the head shaking and tail swatting continues!
As I stood at the fence and watched this pretty girl chasing off her feisty enemies, I heard a scripture in my spirit. “When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.” Isaiah 59:19 Heifer calf, 54A, was definitely in need of a standard to be raised. She was desperate for something to block the attack of the horse fly!
You and I are no different. And in this last day, yes, I believe that we are in the LAST DAYS and Jesus is coming back SOON, the enemy of our souls is fighting hard. Satan is attacking on every side, more and more, because his time is short. He is flying in and mostly distracting the Christian from their work. That little heifer wanted to be close to me, she wanted to know who and what I was and what I was doing. But she was constantly having to take her eyes off of me in order to chase off those flies.
Our battle with satan is no different. Yes, there are times that the battle is solely for the soul. But there are other times that it is purely a distraction. If we are so focused on swatting the flies in our life, we are too busy to see the needs around us and be all that God needs us to be in this day and time.
It is really difficult for me to pray for a friend if I am in the middle of my own pain and battle and don’t feel like I can fight my way out of a wet, paper bag. How am I supposed to pray for others when I can’t pray for myself? Every felt that way? If you did or do right now, recognize it for what it is! It is the distraction plan of the enemy.
Know how to fix that? You need a little fly protection! James 4:7 says, “Resist the devil and he will flee.” Once we recognize what’s going on, realize our battle isn’t with our spouse, child, friend or coworker and the battle is with our spiritual enemy, it’s a lot easier to fight and win!
“When the enemy comes in like a flood,” when that swarm of horse flies is buzzing all around you, recognize it for what it is and take HIS authority that has been give to YOU over it!
That little heifer can fight and shake off the horse flies all she wants, but she will have to continue to fight and shake until the farmer himself comes with the fly spray and “raises the standard” against her enemy! You and I can swat and fret all we want, but until we allow and welcome “The Spirit of The Lord” to raise up the protection around us, we will have our hands full!
I don’t know about you, but I have seen and recognized the enemy at work and I am tired of it! I have suited up for battle, but I am not fighting alone! I have angel armies alongside me and the God of those armies has lifted HIS shield! Now that have my spiritual fly protection, I am ready!
God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of POWER, LOVE and a SOUND MIND! I will not be afraid. I will not give in to anxiety and doubt. I will not question HIS goodness or HIS will! He is in control and He is victorious. All I need to do is get under a little fly protection and “stand still and see the salvation of The Lord!”
We forget that all we need to do is ask Him to be our Protector. He will send us His Angel warriors to encamp around us and deliver us from all our enemies – whatever or whomever they may be – as often as necessary. Our loving Friend and Savior will always be there for us especially when we speak to Him each day from our hearts.
Thank you Heather for reminding us of His promises.
I suffer with depression and anxiety. The amount of “flys” at times are so overwhelming. Some of those flys I thought were long gone appear out of nowhere again. Everyday I remind myself that my God will NEVER leave or forsake me. All those flys of pain abuse and torture he will take care of. One day at a time fighting flys.
Stand and fight! Take your authority! You’ve got this and He has got you!
