PJ Time – Book Review

My kids are no longer little! Where did time go? At the ages they are now (15, 17, & 20), bedtimes don’t look anything like they used to! No one is getting a bedtime story and needing to be tucked in anymore. As a matter of fact, most every night ends with us going to bed before them and sometimes, they tuck us in and turn out the light!

But given the opportunity to review this really cute book, “PJ Time”, gave me the chance to reminisce on the days when they were small and we would snuggle together to read a devotional or a bedtime story. Even as they grew older, each of them would do their own devotions. Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 Our hope and prayer as parents, is that they will continue those habits long after we aren’t tucking them in!

Site Prep

That’s a big fire! You should have seen it; you should have felt it! We are doing some site prep on the farm and this fire was the start of that work.

We are getting ready to put in more pasture and to do that, we needed to clear more land. In order for us to begin clearing with all of the heavy equipment, husband wanted to burn first. And yes, we had a burn permit.

We started by disking the ground with the tractor all the way around the areas that we intended to burn. This gave some barrier around the area to hopefully stop the fire if it attempted to cross. We also set the fire so that it would back burn. By back burning, the fire would burn against the wind instead of with the direction of the wind. This way, it would take longer to burn, but had less of a chance of getting out of control.

Let the Sun Shine on Me!

I was watching our baby this morning while we were watching our online church service. That sweet baby is getting older and loves to lay where it is warm. She also wants to be right where we are, so she found herself a place where the morning sun was shining in while we had church.

You hear that? … where the sun was shining in.

As I looked at her lying there in the sun, I was overwhelmed at the thought of the sun shining in. As she laid there, she was completely at peace. She was happy and content. She was relaxed and not stressed. She wasn’t nervous. She was totally at rest.
