Time to Go Old School

We have been pulling some old genetics out lately! We have some calves and embryo calves this season and last from “old school” genetics that we are excited about. Bulls dating back to the 1970s and many others have pulled at our attention lately and the results are exciting! It’s time to go old school!

Calving is always an exciting time. New babies coming almost daily, bouncing around the pastures, along with the expectation of new breeding makes for eager and watchful days! We check the cows several times a day and then watch them for days after to make sure babies are nursing and cows have good recoveries.

Husband and I were walking a mom and calf to the barn a couple hours after birth and I asked the Lord if there was anything I should pay attention to. Is there a Word here? When we are intentional, He is faithful. I am trying to be intentional to ask and expect an answer.

“It’s time to go back.”

Think on that! I was shocked! See, at this point, I am walking behind a calf that is sired by a bull born in the 80s that was imported into Canada and has been dead for a number of years. We went deep into the tanks to breed this one and we have quite a few varieties of calves with similar stories.

In this day and age, everything has a “new” spin on it. Everything that is “old” or “old school” is being done away with. I even recently heard a statement made by the UN that “we cannot create a future fit for our grandchildren with a system built by our grandparents.” Even our words have new meaning. I watched a video with a father and daughter as he said a word and she said the “new” word that the younger generation is using.

Old isn’t good enough anymore. But should it be?

God said, “It’s time to go back.” Back to what?

Let’s get back to prayer. Let’s go back to “old school” beliefs because what people believe now certainly isn’t helping our world. The Church has the same statistics as those outside the Church. So why would we continue as we are? It’s time to go back.

Let’s go back to right and wrong. Let’s go back to absolutes and morals. Let’s go back to calling sin, sin and preaching and teaching God’s Word and not fluff and relativism. God never called The Church to fit in. He called us to be separate and holy.

He said come out from among them, He didn’t say make them feel comfortable. He said be different. He called us to be disciples and soldiers not babysitters and pew warmers. He called us to holiness. Instead, The Church is comfortable and complacent. We have sat down and refused to stand for right and stand against wrong.

It’s time to go back. Go back to speaking up for right. Go back to prayer and fasting. Go back to church. Go back to witnessing everywhere we go. It’s time to go back to speaking the TRUTH in love even if it offends. Offense is supposed to push us to conviction of our sins. That’s why the Bible is a two edged sword. It’s cuts through the sin and excuses and gets to our heart.

It’s time to go back. Go back to what you know. Go back to the last promise He spoke to you. Go back to those old beliefs taught to you by your parents and grandparents. Get back to reading your Bible. Go back to church. Start praying again. Dig deep in your heart and mind and go back to that Word that was spoken over you as a child or teen and ask The Lord to bring it to pass.

It’s time to go back.

  1. Amen, Alleluia! What a powerful message, Heather, for both young and old! We need to believe even more today than in the past days but at the same time we mustn’t forget those softly spoken words of our parents and grandparents! Trust in the Lord with all your mind and all your heart and all your soul and all His love will be with you forever!
Thank you for giving us these wonderful words of wisdom.
