Each animal we have is unique and distinctive. Each of them have different markings and color patterns. This little calf has what looks like a heart on its forehead. When I see it, I think about how I got a new heart.
February 7-14 is National Congenital Heart Defect Awareness week culminating fittingly on Valentine’s Day. I have had 2 open heart surgeries, as an adult for congenital heart defects. So a heart shape on a calf or any time “heart” is mentioned, it means something to me! One of my boys even gave me a heart shaped rock in the Smoky Mountains once and I still have it!
Ever had something great happen to you and you just wanted to tell everyone about it? It’s just like the calf with the heart on its head or a great cow or calf, we want to share it with somebody! Sometimes I think that people who have heard my story before are tired of hearing about it, but what God did for me is so great that I just don’t want to ever not give Him glory!
I shouldn’t be alive, and at least 2 of my 3 children shouldn’t be. But God kept me and kept them until He could give me a new heart. Since my 2nd surgery in 2006, doctors have marveled at how my heart looks. One doctor couldn’t find even a hint of my history by looking at my heart scans.
I literally have a NEW heart.
You might not have a need for a new, physical heart. But maybe you need a new SPIRITUAL heart. If you have never committed yourself fully to Christ, what better day than today? Today, is Valentines Day too!
Ezekiel 36:26 says, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” You can have a new heart!
Has someone hurt you? Do you have bitterness or unforgiveness because of something in your past? Did someone hurt you at church or maybe there’s a family member that you haven’t spoke to in a long time? Feel like your heart is turned to stone?
Jesus can give you a new heart. Ask Him today to perform heart surgery and repair your defects. We all have them. Romans 3:23 says, “All have sinned…” We all have heart defects. Sometimes our defects are hidden and we have hidden them and lived with them so long that that it seems they can’t be fixed.
My physical defects were that way. I was 21 and 29 when my issues were found and fixed. I had lived with brokenness and defects for so long that doctors had a hard time finding what was wrong. But one day, the right doctor in the right place figured it all out!
Today, the Great Physician is in the right place and now is the right time to fix your defects. You can have a new heart today! Ask the doctor to do what only He can do!
Happy National Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day. Happy Valentines Day. Happy you got a new heart day!
Today is the day of salvation!
May God continue His blessings upon you and your family and friends, as we all must offer our hearts filled with love and prayers to others and not just for one day but every day!
“But one day, the right doctor in the right place figured it all out!”
God’s timing….isn’t that just like our Lord?! Thank you for sharing this Heather. I’m thankful your heart is doing well and I’m thankful it leans towards Jesus. You are a blessing. As always, I love the pictures you post!
He is faithful!
