New! I Hate New, How About You?

New. These days everyone is looking for new. Especially this year, the new year is probably the most anticipated that it has ever been. Everyone is looking forward to putting 2020 behind them, in hopes that 2021 will bring a better year. But I hate new!

Our world is looking for new. New diets, new fitness regimens, new home decor…. you name it, if it’s new, we want it. The new year is the time of year that brings a feeling of fresh starts and renewed determination. Resolutions are being made, and broken, and lots of money is being spent in order to start fresh in the new year.

Currently our family is experiencing a lot of new things. We have several changes going on in our lives and those changes will bring lots of “new” to our schedules and our home. We have quite a few new calves on the farm as well, and those also bring lots of challenges as some are born without event and others come and need a little extra attention.

New is the Word that God has been speaking to my spirit this last week or so. New can be defined several ways, but this particular definition stuck out to me: “already existing, but seen, experienced, or acquired recently or now for the first time.”

Ecclesiastes says it best, “There is nothing new under the sun.” Although there are never really any completely new things, they are new to us. Experiences that others have had that we haven’t had before can be coupled with events that have maybe happened before but now are experienced in a different way or just at a different stage in life.

Whatever the new is for you, it can be overwhelming.

If you are like me at all, change is hard and new is not something that excites me. I find comfort in routine and the normal expectations. My anxiety and stress levels tend to climb when there isn’t a plan or the outcome of something isn’t known. New is not something that I do well with.

But if God is speaking a Word and you are seeing that in the physical, I have learned that I should pay attention. There’s a lesson there for certain. The physical and the spiritual typically go hand in hand, so He has my attention and I am looking for what is coming new to my Christian walk.

Ready or not, here comes the new!

2021 doesn’t just have to be a time to start fresh on your diet and exercising or making resolutions to be a better person. Lamentations 3:22-23 says, “His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.”

This year, today, is the day to start fresh and new in your relationship with Christ.

Maybe you have never made a commitment to Christ; if you haven’t, let me encourage you to make that step! You won’t regret it! Today is the day of salvation! Start new today.

Maybe you’ve been a Christian for many years? It’s never too late to try something new, especially in your Christian walk. Pray differently, read more, look at your walk through new eyes and re-experience it for the first time. Return to your first love and renew the spark in your Christian walk.

Sometimes it’s easy to get lost in the busyness of life or just in the tumult of the world around us. But today I am purposing in my heart to start new. New vision. New purpose. New desire. New.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a NEW creation. Old things have passed away; behold, all things have become NEW.

New can be scary, but new can be fun and exciting. I hate new, but I’m excited for the new things that I feel God is about to do! I am ready to see what God has in store for you, me and The Circle E Life! How about you?
