The Invisible Enemy

So much has changed in our world today, we cannot go out for fun or play.

There is an invisible enemy searching us out, it is very hard to tell what it’s all about.

This enemy seeks for the ones at risk, but then at random chooses those not on the list.

Some of the sick are barely sick at all, yet some of those chosen will answer death’s call.

We cannot tell when this all will end, but we know for sure it is there around the bend.

So we continue this journey, this mysterious life, that has suddenly been filled with heartache and strife.

Some good things have come out of staying at home, everyone is together and few are alone.

Families have found new connections to make, time is being spent together as they read, play, and bake.

Once this enemy of ours has given up and gone, most can’t wait for normal and when they don’t have to stay home.

But do we really want the hustle and bustle, do we really want to return to that struggle?

For now, people are aware of others and are praying, the focus has turned to God’s Word and His sayings.

But once this enemy is past, will our focus change? The invisible enemy originally there, will be the same.

That enemy that seeks to kill and destroy, he doesn’t discriminate when he uses his ploys.

Though just like today with light at the end, one day soon, our coming King will descend.

The trumpet will sound and the call will be quick, our journey here on Earth will be over, no more conflict.

The invisible enemy, the one of our hearts; he’ll be defeated forever and we will be free of his darts.

Our bodies will change and be glorified; they will no longer be affected by the diseases of earthly lives.

These days we currently dread, stuck at home day after day; will soon enough, before we know it, have all passed away!

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
